I have an AC / heat pump unit install in 2010 from Sears. Heat pump had been cycling on and off frequently so I called them for maintenance. The first person they sent was on time and very professional. He did a pretty decent job of at least attempting to diagnose the cause and did isolate that it was a pressure issue. He also stated that is was essentially a second level service or repair so he could schedule me for that. The second person to show up on repair day was also on time. He asked what was the problem and after I relayed all of the back story, he immediately started talking about maybe it's ductwork before checking it or the air flow. After they did some of their diagnostics, they felt it was a refrigerant issue that needed to be charged for $400+. This unit is 3 years old! There isalso a number of other issues that could be causing the cycling issue (bad regulator, etc.). I am not confident in the ability for Sears to do to the job. I usually use home advisor as the service people get direct feedback and usually operate their brand accordingly. Sears operates in a long dead era where you take what they give you.
