Sears Blue Crew broke my washer - Maytag Washing machine


A part that connects my washing machine to the drain pipe broke. It's a cheap piece of plastic so I figured it was an easy fix. Sears came over and replaced the part. As soon as they left, I ran a cycle to make sure the machine was working properly after the repair. It wasn't: the machine filled up with water but then wouldn't drain. I called and asked them to come back and fix it since it still wasn't draining. When they returned, they told me that in the course of the drain hose repair, they must have somehow broken the machine's control panel. So now the whole machine would no longer function at all. And since the machine was no longer under warranty, they refused to supply the part or fix the problem for free even though they're the ones who broke it. They tell me that it could have been a coincidence that the control panel broke just as they were working on it - we can't prove that they're responsible! The best they would offer me is 10% of a new machine, which is a pittance given the total cost.

A new control panel cost $300, which given the age of the machine isn't worth it. So now I have to buy an entire new washing machine - all because a small plastic part broke. This expense is the last thing I need right now (plus I'm going weeks without being able to wash my family's clothes).

Really unhappy with Sears that they refused to adequately solve the problem that their own guys caused. I brought them in for a repair and they made the problem far worse, costing me an arm and a leg. Let's just say I plan to buy the replacement machine somewhere else.
